My cousin has girl twins that are around 6 years old. A couple years ago I made them little cat hats to wear during winter. This past summer I went and saw them and really got along with the little girls, so I guess they pulled them out this winter! Their mom took pictures of them saying that they were too small, but they insisted on wearing them. So I HAD to make them new hats, and instead of cats, I made them birds! Cute little heart beaked birds. Hopefully they'll like and wear these! :)
One thing about most crafters, if you use their items and are even a tiny bit appreciative, they will keep making you stuff! It makes me extremely happy when I see someone using something I made, and it just makes me want to make them more!
When I make people items, if I don't hear from them, I will assume they hated it and never make them anything again. Even if a year later they tell me they loved it, I won't believe it since they didn't have the time to send me a text saying they received it. It's just how I work, I don't get offended because everyone has different tastes, but I don't want to put in any effort and time for someone that won't use and like it. And it's why these two little girls will have new hats every year! :)

Another Scarf
Because I made my nephew a scarf, I realized I also had to make one for my niece. It's a short scarf and the yarn has these sparkles on it so it's all girly like she is. I gave them their scarves on Tuesday when they left and my nephew loved his Hufflepuff scarf. He seemed pretty happy when I drove away from the airport, he was even wearing it in the heat haha. :)

HUFFLEPUFF!
My sister's family is going to her in-laws place for Thanksgiving. After the holiday they are renting a car and driving down to Disneyland in LA. My nephew is a pretty big Harry Potter fan and I loved the movies and books, so we talk about it a bit.
Recently he said he went on the Pottermore website, took the quiz and it said he was a Hufflepuff. It fits him perfectly because he really is the nicest kid ever. Since it'll be cold over there in Disney and he won't be able to visit Harry Potter World in Universal, thought I'd make him a Hufflepuff scarf!
The colors of Hufflepuff are canary yellow and black, but when I started making it, it was looking pretty overly bright and Bee-like. So I looked at more pictures online and noticed that Cedric Diggory's scarf is actually more gold and black. I went with those colors and it turned out much nicer!
I'm pretty excited about giving it to him on Tuesday when I take them to the airport. Hopefully he will wear it and tell people about his Hufflepuff house :)

Works in Progress!
So the plan was that I should have a new item finished every week. At the moment I have 3 works in progress that I started in the last week. First I started on a pair of gloves for a Christmas gift. But then my cousin posted pictures on her facebook of her cute little girls wearing the hats I made for them 2 YEARS AGO!. They were small, but they still loved them. So I decided I definitely HAD to make them new hats this year because they are so adorable. THEN I realized that I take my hats in during the first week of December. I am about 10 short of my 25 goal. So that takes priority and I began working on a hat for my donation stash. I got it half done yesterday and plan on finishing it today. Then it'll be hats and more hats until I meet my quota and then I can relax and start in on the gifts. Whew! Christmas always catches me by surprise!

Ornaments Take 2!
Huzzah! I've figured out some ornaments to make this year! I had bought these 1" plastic rings recently thinking maybe I could make little wreaths or something. After playing around with it, I just decided to make little snowflakes. Crocheted some shiny embroidery floss around them in differing colors, pinned them up, soaked them in Epsom Salt and water, then sprayed them with some silver glitter! I also have a bunch of Christmas buttons a friend gave me years ago so I busted those out and glued cute little things to each one!I just ordered another set of 15 rings so I will have enough for friends and family. Now I can not worry about it since I just finished my first batch! Here they are drying! :)

Dragon Scale Hat
I have a friend that moved to California that had a baby about 6 months ago. When his wife was pregnant he showed me a picture of a baby Deadpool hat. So I made him one, but it was a little large because apparently I have no clue the size of babies heads! (Though funny enough, my friend thought it'd be way too small haha) Anyway he was eventually able to wear it at a couple months old...during the summer. That sort of fizzled because it's way too hot for hats in Cali. I wanted to make the baby another hat, but a different one. My friend loves dragons and collects them, so I figured I'd make his baby a cute little dragon scale hat. And of course it needs to be a Red dragon! As with his other hat, I'm going to assume this will be too big because I suck at figuring out baby head sizes. But hopefully he'll be able to wear it next winter! :P

Ornaments!
Every Christmas for the past few years I've been making ornaments. I crocheted snowflakes and stockings, crocheted over glass balls, and last year I took a glass class so made some glass angel ornaments. I was trying to figure out what to make this year, but I've been having a hard time. I spent the day going through some wire supplies trying to find something to make with them and I apparently don't have the knack of bending wire nicely. I've crocheted with wire before but it's such a hassle to do and even if I did, I still don't know what I'd crochet out of wire.
So now I sit here frustrated thinking "screw ornaments this year!" Since I won't be on the island I don't think it'll be a big deal. Maybe I'll figure something out, maybe I won't. For now I'll take a break from trying because it's just too annoying!
